http://obg.med.uth.tmc.edu/ Sean Blackwell graduated medical school from University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1993, completed a Transitional Internship and Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency through Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at WSU and was on Faculty from 2001-2006.

At WSU his service included Medical Director of Informatics, Director of Antenatal Testing and HIPAA Privacy Officer for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He was also an NICHD Women’s Reproductive Health Scholar and the Alternate Principle Investigator for the Maternal Fetal Medicine Units (MFMU) Network of the NICHD. From 2006-2007, He practiced at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in the Divisions of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Fetal Imaging.

In June 2007, he moved to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston to become the Principle Investigator for the University of Texas-Houston Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network site. He is an Associate Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences.

Formerly an Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at Northwestern University Medical School, Lisa is a renowned expert in fetal monitoring and obstetrics. Lisa practices in a busy nurse midwifery service, teaches multi-disciplinary fetal monitoring programs, and provides risk management/patient safety consultation to individuals, hospitals and other organizations. Lisa is an active member of AWHONN and serves as a member of the ACNM Quality Management Section of the Division of Standards and Practice where her focus is on EFM issues and standards. She is widely published and her article "Safety Promotion and Error Reduction in Perinatal Care..." has been chosen as one of the top 10 articles of the decade by the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing. Lisa is the developer and creator of the ReadRight EFM ruler and ReadRight EFM Differentials.
